While I was finding an internship I had no idea what I wanted to do and had multiple meetings with our internship coordinator Janae before the humane society even crossed my mind. Besides my uncertainty I didn’t have a clue how to start looking for an internship and the school year kept going by and I realized I still didn’t have an internship and was freaking out on the inside a bit but I started to realize I was lucky because unlike a lot of other kids I got my first choice and only had to contact one person.
I chose the La Plata County Humane Society because I’ve always really loved dogs (my parents and I will call out when we see one by saying FRIEND quickly and in a voice) and I thought this could be a great way to learn more about them. I’m hoping to learn more about the behavior of dogs and the way they react in and out of the kennel. I also want to gain a better understanding to working without being told in a real life situation rather than just school. When my internship is over I want to leave a mark of someone who was hard working and caring for the animals with the possibility of coming back over the summer. I don't know if I would want this to be a future career but I still think it will be a great learning experience for me.

My Link Internship is now confirmed and I'm excited to get started
I met with my mentor Ken Hibbard and I'm feeling pretty good about my internship though I'm still nervous.
I don't have an internship right now. Knowing link is just around the corner is making me feel really nervous.
